Heartland Express Deploys Isaac In-Cab Technology

Truckload carrier Heartland Express has deployed Isaac Instruments’ in-cab telematics system across its fleet, the companies said in a joint announcement.
Heartland said it implemented the technology because it is reliable, intuitive and helps simplify drivers’ jobs.
“The Isaac solution is fast, responsive and does not break, which is all it takes for drivers to smile when it is a question of technology,” said Chris Strain, chief financial officer at Heartland Express. “Further, Isaac brought various apps and other driver solutions together on a single device for the driver.”

Isaac manages the hardware, customization, maintenance and upgrades for the technology so that Heartland can focus on running its trucking business more efficiently.

Heartland Express, based in North Liberty, Iowa, ranks No. 58 on the Transport Topics Top 100 list of the largest for-hire carriers in North America. The company has expanded in recent years through its acquisitions of Millis Transfer, Smith Transport and CFI’s truckload business.
Another Iowa-based carrier, West Side Transport, also recently installed the Isaac system throughout its fleet.
West Side Transport, headquartered in Cedar Rapids, cited simplified workflows and real-time driver coaching as key factors in its decision. The Isaac Coach feature is designed to boost fuel economy and improve safety by providing drivers with real-time feedback in the cab.
Isaac Instruments claims the telematics market share lead in Canada and has been growing its customer base in the United States.
