Trucking’s Main Fuel Is Down 8.6¢ in First Two Weeks of ’24

The national average diesel price continued its steady descent, shedding 4.8 cents to reach $3.828 a gallon, according to Energy Information Administration data released Jan. 8.

Diesel’s average price has started the new year with consecutive declines totaling 8.6 cents. Overall, trucking’s main fuel has fallen in cost 10 of the past 11 weeks.
The average price for a gallon of diesel now costs 72.1 cents less than at this time in 2023.
The average diesel price dropped in all 10 regions of EIA’s weekly survey, ranging from a high of 9 cents in the Rocky Mountain area to a low of 1.2 cents in New England.
Gasoline dropped by 1.6 cents on the national average to reach $3.073 a gallon.
